Solidarity Discounts
Solidarity rates for Decolonizing the Body are available for people with financial need.
The full price for this course is $950. You can pay half price ($475) or 30 percent of the course fee ($285).
I don’t limit the number of discounted spots, but for my own financial well-being, I need most people who sign up for the course to pay the full rate.
Inspired by the work of Bear Hebert, I’m trying something new that feels good to my heart and body but also requires some vulnerability.
Is This Right For You?

Some thoughts about you: I ask that you consider your financial situation in terms of the actual hard numbers. Because we’ve all been conditioned by the distortion that is racialized capitalism, many of us tend to feel more financially insecure than we actually are. I ask you to assess your financial landscape based on the numbers rather than the feelings. In addition to your current financial situation, please consider identity-based privilege, relative earning potential, and access to financial support from your family/network. If you have a people in your life who could give or lend you the money to pay for this course, please utilize that network rather than the discount codes. Paying the standard rate if you’re able (even on a payment plan) allows me to offer discounts to those who need them.
Some context about me: I grew up middle class. I am unmarried and do not have family wealth or assets. I am Black, able-bodied, and queer. I was raised in Farmington, Utah, which is a town that is truly as white and conservative as it sounds. Much of my life has been dedicated to unraveling the harmful social conditioning I internalized during my formative years and supporting other women of color with similar experiences to do the same. One particularly pernicious narrative is a struggle to recognize my inherent enoughness, belonging, and worth. This wound has made itself incredibly apparent in my own financial challenges.
Since I have been self-employed (roughly the last ten years), my income has averaged $40,000 a year. I’m incredibly grateful to be earning money in my own business doing work that I love. Still, living in San Francisco one of the most expensive cities in the U.S., I would not be able to fully support myself without the help of my loving partner. Financial independence is a goal of mine for obvious reasons. I also have a bunch of student loan debt that is yet to be addressed.
I say all this because many people incorrectly assume that if I’m offering discounts, it must be because I don’t need the money. Rather, I offer solidarity discounts as a commitment to anti-capitalist practices in my business. I ask that you use the discounts only if you genuinely need them and not because of a preference to pay a lower cost or a fear of future scarcity.
